The Creative Process

The tree trunk is nature's “found object”, a source which I discover and recompose. The creative process starts with the finding and choosing the logs, a task both challenging and entertaining, sometimes resulting in unusual situations, (like having state police hold up traffic on busy 4 lane highway to have a huge tree trunk cut and hauled) Trunks come from neighbors, friends, mills, and foresters, Hurricanes prompt wood searches.

Quote:
"Brzezinski has worked in a variety of mediums, such as bronze, latex, fiber, and resin. However, since the mid 80's she has focused on wood, in which the artist came into her own. In her monumental wood sculpture she enters into an unabashedly intuitive dialog with the material, which is, most importantly, not only the medium, but also the very subject of her sculpture."
